This is an awesome place for the kiddos ~ they have bunk beds and their own 19" flat screen! Seriously though, with 150,000 gallons of water ON SITE who is going to be watching tv? Maybe good to get them settled down at night though right?
Our resort features 98 Tower rooms connected to the Waterpark through interior corridors and 102 exterior entrance rooms in the two Atrium buildings located approximately 50 yards from the Waterpark. Each Tower room has a built in Kiddie Cove (6' x 4') with a bunk bed and 19” flat screen tv. Our Tower room accommodations boast 2 double beds or 1 king bed, 32” flat screen tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. Our newly refurbished Atrium rooms boast 2 queen beds, or 1 king bed, a 32” flat screen tv, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and hairdryer.

So if you're like me, and you'll be bringing your own groceries for the majority of your dining out, they've got a fridge and coffee maker, the two basic necessities to ensure you're not breaking the bank.

Castle Rock offers one of Branson’s best attractions right on-site with our 30,000 sq ft indoor and 10,000 sq ft outdoor waterpark. Our waterpark features 150,000 gallons of splashtacular fun with two 500 gallon dumping buckets, multiple indoor and outdoor kiddie pools with rain showers and waterfalls and more! Enjoy a swim in our indoor lap pool or play basketball in our indoor activity pool. Loop and dip through our 2 large three-story thrill slides, kick back for a ride on the lazy river, play on themed water slides or relax on the multilevel sun deck.

My husband and I have not been ANYWHERE at all in years, its truly time for a vacation. This is close to home for us (we live in Tennessee) so we'll definitely be there!

Little Passports - A Global Adventure

My daughter always wants to check our mail. She actually gets upset if I check it before she gets home from school so I usually try to leave a little something in there that she can bring in herself. So imagine her surprise when she checked the mail and brought it more than "a little something" and it was addressed to her!

A Collection of Letters From Moms and To Moms

I've often thought about consulting a family counselor regarding my inability to relate in some ways to my children. But I worry about the trend of so many doctors and therapists pointing both parents and children toward prescription medications as a cure-all for everything. I realized that I just want someone to talk to who has had similar experience. I did a little internet search and lo-and-behold, I'm not alone. I found these beautiful letters out on the internet and they got me thinking. Maybe the best therapy is an open ear.

This letter talks about what it means to have the "good life". How we so often try to make up for our shortcomings by trying to provide things to our children.
"I love you dearly. As a parent, I want “to give you a good life”. But you may need me to define what I mean by that. A good life doesn’t necessarily include lots of material things. It may, it can, but things don’t define a good life."

Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition Presented by Pureology

Could your child's school use a green makeover? I know my child's school could and that's why I nominated them for the Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition. You can nominate your child's school too, but you have to hurry because entries are due by March 31st!

Pureology Green School Makeover Banner

Every child deserves a learning environment that’s safe, comfortable and free of harmful toxins. Unfortunately, many schools across the country lack the funds to carry out much-needed repairs and renovations—subjecting children to outdated facilities with improper ventilation, poor lighting and inefficient energy usage. Global Green USA is working to address this situation and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a healthy, green school.

The Potty Training Diaries Part 2

Mya

Overall, potty training has been a success. After the first several days things have only gotten better. Mya will tell me when she needs to go pee every time now. The only thing that is still an issue is the poop.

Mya has had "stomach issues" for at least a year now. She screams and cries every time she needs to poop. If you saw what she pooped out you understand why, its huge. (Sorry if this is too graphic but I'm sure I'm not the only one with a child who has poop issues) It has gotten so bad that she has resorted to "holding it in". For hours, sometimes a full 24 hours because she knows its going to hurt.

I think what it all boils down to is that she is not getting enough fiber in her diet. I called her doctor and she recommended flax seed. That didn't work so well because I couldn't get her to eat anything I put it in. I bought some wheat germ which is easier to hide and try to slip that into everything that I can. The fact is that she is a picky eater and a light eater. She also won't drink juice very much, only every so often. The pharmacist recommended I speak to her doctor about MiraLAX, that does seem to help a little, but the problem persists.
(Update! We have STOPPED with the Miralax after reading this article: IS MIRALAX THE NEXT VIOXX?)

What this means for potty training is that I spent most of day 6 and 7 in the bathroom with her. She'll start crying and get really still and I rush her to the potty where she seems to get control of it (has it held in good again) and "is done". Until about ten minutes later when go through it all over again. Several times there have been "accidents".

As for the rest, she still wears a diaper at nap and bedtime but she always wakes up dry from her nap. At bedtime she wakes up a little wet but not nearly as wet as pre-potty. She forgot all about our M&M deal the second day in and now she just goes to the potty because that's what she's supposed to do.

I rarely ask her if she has to go, not like the first day or two. Now she tells me but I do make sure she goes before bed or before we go anywhere. And I still cut back on liquids before bed and outings.

I'll keep updating for all you of you and if you haven't already make sure you check out my original post The Potty Training Diaries.
