Absolutely! As others have said, tight budgets make it hard. But even if we all just buy ONE item fair trade every year, that adds up.

ReplyDeleteMy man and I have made an effort to support Fair trade items for about the last 3 years. Each year, i see more and more items available at the grocery store, and that makes it easier. We also support local farmers' markets.

ReplyDeleteI definitely try to support fair trade products when I shop. I don’t think it’s right for certain people to live in substandard conditions simply because they weren’t lucky enough to be born in an affluent nation. I like that fair trade products attempt to address that issue.

ReplyDeleteI love to buy from fair trade. Its such a great organization and the products are useful and stylish and/or delicious. I bought this great hemp fair trade purse this summer, last Christmas at craft shows I bought coffee and other little things to give as gifts to family and friends. In fact theirs a fair trade show coming up in early november at a nearby church. I will be sure to go and buy some more.

I would like to try and buy fair trade products. I think that there are some products that are reasonably priced and comparable to non-fair trade products. I may start with coffee and tea, and move to chocolates.

ReplyDeleteI've actually been researching the impact of fair trade for a while and I'm still a little doubtful on it's effectiveness as a poverty reduction tool. However, if a fair trade product is priced competitively and offers me other value I purchase it with great enthusiasm.
