100% All Natural Mineral Makeup - A Review of Mineral Hygienics

As you all know, I'm into all things natural. I've been experimenting with making my own cleaning products and personal care products but one thing I have not been able to make at home is makeup. Since I stopped working after the birth of my last child three years ago I haven't worn it much. It just hasn't been worth it to me to have makeup running all over my face by the end of the day. Anyone who has ever tried wearing makeup in the southern states can attest to the fact that when you walk out on a hot and humid summer day your makeup immediately starts to melt.

Regardless of my status at a stay at home mom, there are still occasions where makeup is called for. When I did a search for more natural products there were many options to choose from but one stood out the most. Mineral Hygienics advertised a product that is a 100% all natural mineral makeup.

I immediately emailed them about doing a product review and they sent me a great kit to try out. My kit included two shades of Foundation ( I chose light and fairly light) as well as a Finishing Powder, a Mineral Enhancer and a Kabuki brush.

Some of the advantages of using a pure mineral makeup are: (1) it offers natural sun protection! (2) its safe for all skin types (3) its water resistant and (4) its non-acnegenic and anti-inflammatory. For more information and the benefits of Mineral Hygienics go to their Why We Are Different page.

So...having said all that, its time for the REAL test. I put on my new makeup the morning of my daughter's 7th birthday party. I had a house full of guests to get ready for and, as usual, I was running behind.

The first thing that I would like to note is how easy it was to apply using the Kabuki brush. Unlike liquid foundation that I used before I didn't have any messy makeup left on my hands to wash off. I applied to the foundation and the finishing powder with the same brush in no time at all.

By the end of the party I hadn't touched my face up at all. It wasn't heavy, I really didn't even notice that it was there. I didn't take it off until bedtime but even then it looked the same as when I first put it on. Here is a picture of me toward the end of the party. I really don't like taking pictures of myself but for the purpose of this review I wanted to show you that it really does work.

My Mineral Hygienics Face
I cut my sister's head out of the picture because I wasn't sure how she would feel about me posting her picture on my blog. I hope you can tell that makeup is not caked on my face, it looks and feels completely natural and its good for my skin. I don't have to worry about it clogging my pores at all.

If you're looking for a makeup that it is fresh and natural you should give Mineral Hygienics a try.
